I remember this image from Thailand because it was the only one I really liked that day I first participated in Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk. My friend Art had organized for a group to do the SKWP that year, and we traipsed around old Bangkok, beside the Chao Phraya river, in small alleys.
It was late in the day when I stumbled into this temple and saw the monk folding a robe.
The content is so ordinary it defies the title of ‘favorite photowalk image.’
What I like about it is the light. It’s high contrast, which I like, and the rim lighting is what separates the subject from the underexposed background.
It’s really about light.
